High Wire Distilling Jimmy Red Straight Bourbon
High Wire Distilling Jimmy Red Straight Bourbon
Ann Marshall and Scott Blackwell, a wife and husband team from Charleston in South Carolina have a simple mission: find the best ingredients and create recipes using a culinary approach. And since Scott is a trained baker with plenty of knowledge of artisanal grains and techniques, that proved to be Mission: Possible. Using local and unique ingredients, their distillery creates both core products and series of limited edition creations invented in the state-of-the-art apothecary where experiments and magic happen.
What makes craft producers like Ann and Scott special is they don't use mainstream corn that is also found in tortilla chips, soda, or cooking oil, like major brands do. They source small quantities of local grains, which brings unique flavor and expresses regional terroir. This Bourbon is quite special because its essence is nearly extinct and legendary moonshiner's Jimmy Red corn. The nutty, sweet, and minerally corn creates an unusually creamy distillate, and since only two cobs remained before they were revived, it's the story of Genesis all over again. It's one of the most unique Bourbons in existence.
